Born and Raised on the island of Oahu, Mark K. Muramoto grew up surrounded by lush tropical forests, beautiful blue skies and sparkling beaches. Mark fully embraced the island lifestyle, and developed a deep seated appreciation for nature. Influenced by his familys love for the ocean, Mark became an avid surfer, and enthusiastic diver.
After graduating from the Mid-Pacific Institute, Mark experimented with his interests, and eventually decided to travel to Seattle to enroll in the University of Washingtons Mechanical Engineering program. A few years later, M.E. degree in hand, he came back to the islands and took a job as a M.E. design consultant.
One year had passed, and Mark came to realize he would never be able to work within the confines of an office. So he turned his attention to what had previously been only a hobby; photography. Combining his long standing love of the ocean with his new found passion, Mark instinctively knew he had found his niche.
Today Mark is happily enjoying life as a professional photographer and Project Engineer. You might find him bobbing up and down in waves, capturing the thrills of surfing, or gliding through the ocean currents, photographing Hawaiis beautiful marine life. His website, seareflections.com, contains a full gallery of his work, contact information, and also upcoming and recent events. He also displays his photos in various art galleries around Oahu and in person at local craft fairs and related events.
